Wooden jetty reaching into the lake in summer at Neituri Manor, a private lakeside retreat

Summer · June–August

What do you do when night never falls?

Summer at Neituri means the white nights of the Finnish lakeland. From June to August the sun barely sets, the lake warms for swimming, and days are built around the water: boating to empty islands, fishing, long outdoor dinners and midnight saunas in twilight.

What are the days like?

Days are slow and entirely shaped by your party, with mornings often spent on the jetty and afternoons on the water or in the hammock. The near-constant light of the white nights means dinner can start late and drift naturally into a sauna and a last swim, without anyone watching the clock. Boats are available for reaching quiet islands and coves along the shoreline. Guests who want structure can ask the host for a plan; most simply let the season set the rhythm.

What is on the table?

The kitchen works with new potatoes, lake fish grilled over open fire, and berries and vegetables at their brief northern peak. Meals are served outdoors whenever the evening allows, often at a long table close to the water. The chef builds each week's menu around what is genuinely ready rather than a fixed script, so timing and dishes shift with the season. Requests and dietary preferences are gathered before arrival so nothing needs explaining on the day.
